Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro - First Impressions on Sound Quality, ANC 🤔

Samsung has just announced a slew of fresh products, and I was invited to experience them first hand. That includes the latest foldable devices like the Z Fold 4, the Flip 4, and the new Galaxy Buds 2 Pro which is going to be the focus of this article.

Specs

The Buds 2 Pro have up to 5 hours of playtime with ANC, or up to 18 hours with case. IPX7 Water Resistance, 24bit Hi-Res audio if it’s streaming over Samsung’s new “Samsung Seamless Codec HiFi” codec on the latest Galaxy phones. Other codecs it supports are AAC and SBC. Samsung claims that it has more powerful ANC that could cancel up to 3db more in the lower to midrange frequencies. More details on specs can be found below.

Right now I’m gonna tell you what my first impressions are of actually using the Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro. In terms of design, holding it in my hands, if you’re wondering if the case is any different from the previous Buds Pro in terms of weight and size, as far as I can tell, the case is just as small and as compact as this one. The earbuds, however, have some aesthetical differences, but that’s pretty much it. It was identical to the first Buds Pro in terms of size, fit and comfort.

In terms of sound quality, as far as my ears can tell it is the same Samsung sound, tuned by AKG. Not a lot of emphasis on the bass and lower mids, a bit more brightness in the upper mids and highs. It’s overall detailed sounding, yes, but also clean, smooth and without sounding too sibilant. It does need to be tuned a bit further to get it to sound the way I want personally, cause I do prefer a little more bass and gravity in my sound. As with previous Galaxy Buds, you can do that through the Samsung Wearables app.

Wearables App on the Z Fold 4.

But as it is, its sound quality is not bad overall. But this is just my first impression. I’m sure if I spend more time with the Buds 2 Pro, I can get a better picture of its sound quality. About noise cancelling, testing it in that room with the other journalists chatting in the background, it does seem to do a pretty decent job of dumbing down the noise. I also didn’t get that cabin pressure sensation, which is good news.

However I wasn’t sure if it’s got noise cancelling performance as powerful as the competition. We’re talking Sony WF-1000XM4, Sennheiser Momentum TW 3, etc. Especially if it’s put through the same extreme ANC test that I put these earbuds through. We’ll have to see, again, when I get them into the studio to review. Subscribe to the channel and tap the bell button to stay notified for those reviews when they come out.
