Send your kids secret “Morse Code” pulses with myFirst’s Fone S4 smartwatch
Singapore, 02 December 2024 – myFirst, the Singapore-based tech brand for kids, today announced the latest iteration of its innovative line of Smartwatch Phones for kids, the myFirst Fone S4.
Designed for kids to explore the wonders of smart devices under parental supervision, the Fone S4 features eSIM technology, enabling 4G connectivity between parents and kids for chat, video, voice, and group calls — of up to 8 people. As a smartwatch worn on a child’s wrist, the Fone S4 is also less likely to be misplaced compared to a smartphone.
Its compact form factor, combined with a class mode that silences calls and alerts during specified times while keeping the emergency contact functions active, makes it ideal for use in the classroom without causing distractions.
Paired with the myFirst app on the parent's smartphone, the Fone S4 offers enhanced supervision and control. Parents can monitor usage, manage contacts, and set up geofencing zones to designate safe areas, receiving notifications if their child strays beyond boundaries.
G-Jay Yong, Founder and CEO of myFirst, said: "With the Fone S4, we are redefining how families stay connected, even in the most subtle of ways. Features like magiCode turn simple vibrations into heartfelt moments, while gamification makes daily routines an adventure. Our fun devices and connected services allow children to socialise, share, and explore within trusted circles - no ads, no strangers, only real connections.”
The Fone S4 boasts the largest AMOLED screen among the myFirst smartwatch range at 1.65 inches. It is also the first kid’s smartwatch to have an always-on screen, ensuring the time and date are always visible and removing the hassle of having to press a button or flick the wrist to “wake up” the screen.
magiCode: A secret “morse code” language between parent and child
One of the key standout features of the Fone S4 is magiCode, which allows parents to send personalised messages to their kids’ wrists using customised vibration patterns. Imagine the child in class, feeling a soft, familiar buzz—a subtle “I miss you” from mom or dad.
This innovative feature transforms vibrations into meaningful signals, offering families a fun and intimate way to stay connected.
Through the myFirst app, parents can easily adjust the strength, interval, and duration of the vibrations to craft unique “morse code”-like patterns. Whether it’s a quick tap for “hello” or a longer, gentle buzz for “I miss you,” up to 10 patterns can be saved and sent at any time. magiCode ensures that every buzz is more than just a notification — it’s a heartfelt connection.
Gamification that Makes Growing Up Fun
Another key feature is the gamification system in the Fone S4, which transforms everyday routines into exciting and rewarding adventures. Designed to encourage positive habits, kids can earn virtual “Carrots” currency by completing tasks, achieving milestones, and participating in challenges — whether it’s finishing their homework, hitting a daily step goal, or joining community activities.
Carrots can be spent in the Carrot Store on fun customisations like unique avatars, colourful wallpapers, and special frames, adding a personal touch to their online profiles. A built-in step tracker further motivates kids to stay active, ranking them on a leaderboard with friends to introduce a friendly, competitive edge. Milestones are celebrated with virtual badges, including a special achievement for walking 12,742 kilometres — equivalent to circling the Earth.
Parents can also actively support their child’s development using the habit trainer. This feature allows them to set customised tasks, such as reading for 20 minutes, tidying up, or practising a new skill. Kids earn Carrots for completing these missions, turning everyday routines into meaningful accomplishments while fostering healthy habits.
Dual-band GPS: precise location tracking for peace of mind
The Fone S4 introduces a new dual-band GPS system that offers 30% greater accuracy compared to traditional single-band systems. This advanced technology narrows the location tracking radius from 3 meters to an impressive 2 meters, ensuring highly precise positioning.
Parents can enjoy greater peace of mind, particularly in densely populated urban areas or locations with high building density, where accurate tracking has traditionally been a challenge. With this enhanced GPS capability, the Fone S4 makes keeping track of your child’s whereabouts more reliable than ever.
Advanced motion sensors: unlocking smarter movement tracking
Equipped with a geomagnetic sensor, gyroscope, and accelerometer, the Fone S4 takes movement tracking to the next level. These advanced sensors work together to accurately monitor step counts, measure distances, and detect precise movements.
Whether your child is walking to school, running at the playground, or simply moving around during the day, the Fone S4 captures detailed activity data. These features not only support active lifestyles but also contribute to a richer gamification experience by ensuring accurate step tracking and milestone achievements. With an IPX8 waterproof rating, the Fone S4 is also built to withstand splashes and accidental immersion, ensuring it keeps up with kids’ active lifestyles.
