Singapore, April 22, 2025 – After being available only to Gemini Advanced users through a paid subscription, Google Gemini Live is now free to use. Currently, the feature is only accessible on Google Pixel 9 and Samsung Galaxy S25 series devices. However, there are rumors that Google plans to roll it out to more Android devices gradually.
Interestingly, Google had already announced the free version of this feature back in 2024, but it’s only just being released now.

Basically, Google Gemini Live comes in two parts: screen share and Gemini Live. For screen share, you can activate it by tapping the screen share button, which lets you scroll through other apps while still chatting with Gemini.
On the other hand, Gemini Live lets you record video while talking to Gemini about objects or places around you. You just need to activate Gemini, point your camera, and ask questions. Gemini will then respond with information based on what your camera sees.

For example, you can point your phone at your surroundings and ask about nearby locations or directions. It’s especially useful when you’re traveling and don’t know much about the area. It also works as a helpful mini tutorial for things around you. For instance, if your clothes have a stain, just show it to Gemini and ask how to clean it.
Overall, this feature makes a handy travel companion and can be a cool tool to learn more about the world around you.
